Carrollton cascades into three counties – Dallas, Denton and Collin – and benefits from the services of all. Schools in the city are mostly under the well-regarded Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District, while some parts are served by the Dallas and Lewisville ISDs.
The city has a great many neighborhood parks, as well as its own nature preserve. Hiking and biking trails are also plentiful and the city features 36 holes of championship golf at the two 18-hole courses of the Indian Creek Golf Club. The Creek Course was deemed one of the Top 10 Best New Golf Courses in 2004 by Golf Digest.
